Account Groups or a NinjaTrader trade copier?
Start with the exact platform and the events you need copied. Group order entry and a leader-following copier are different workflows.
What happens after the first order?
Ask whether the workflow only sends an initial instruction to selected accounts or continues to observe the leader. Then check what happens when a limit changes, a stop moves, an order partially fills or the remaining quantity is canceled. Those details matter more than calling either workflow “copy trading.”
CrossTrade’s NT8 Order mode mirrors supported order activity. Execution mode responds to leader fills by submitting follower market orders. Fills Only is an option inside Order mode, not a third mode. Choose the behavior required by your entries and exits.
Separate follower sizing from account risk
A copier’s quantity ratio or maximum position controls the copying relationship. An Account Manager monitor evaluates account-level thresholds. Configure both where appropriate, and use Tandem Mode when copying should follow the monitor’s active state.
Verify each follower’s actual orders and position in simulation. Auto-Sync can correct supported discrepancies, but no copier guarantees identical fills, uninterrupted connections or compliance with every firm’s rules.
Choose the route before enabling a copier
For accounts connected inside one NinjaTrader 8 installation, use the NT8 copier setup. For your own accounts across separate NT8 installations, review Signal Share and its plan requirements. For accounts linked directly through Tradovate, use the cloud Tradovate copier.
Disable other copying systems on the test accounts before enabling the replacement. Follow the pre-live checklist, then evaluate whether the workflow meets your account and order requirements.
