API decision guide
Decide whether you need code running inside NinjaTrader 8, an external HTTP client controlling that desktop, or direct access to a cloud brokerage account. They are not interchangeable just because each is described as an API.
NinjaScript is appropriate for platform-native indicators and strategies. NinjaTrader also documents ATI integration. Choose local execution when your logic depends on desktop callbacks and platform state, rather than describing every integration as REST.
CrossTrade’s NT8 REST route allows a Python, JavaScript or other HTTP client to read supported data and submit commands through the running add-on. Keep that platform connected and build response/error handling into the external application.
CrossTrade’s /v1/api/tv route is server-side and requires a linked Tradovate identity plus Pro API access. Direct Tradovate API onboarding is a separate arrangement with the broker. Use the authentication and endpoint catalog for the service you chose.
